ENGLISH PREMIER LEAGUE

LUCAS NEILL (West Ham)
The West Ham skipper played the full 90 minutes in a 4-1 win over a Blackburn Rovers team containing Vince Grella and Brett Emerton last week. He was then reported to have had a row with outgoing boss Alan Curbishley. Ended the week by helping the Socceroos to an historic 2-1 win over Holland.

TIM CAHILL (Everton)
How Everton need Tim back from injury. After a 2-1 win at West Bromwich Albion brought some smiles back to the fans faces, they were swiftly wiped off by a 3-0 home defeat by Harry Redknapp's Portsmouth. Tim is ever closer to a return though after being given the all-clear to resume full training.

MARK VIDUKA (Newcastle United)
It was another Viduka-less Newcastle side that crashed 3-0 at Arsenal last Saturday. Things just go from bad to worse at Newcastle with Kevin Keegan having quit. Viduka is now waiting to see who his third boss at St James's Park will be.

BRETT EMERTON - VINCE GRELLA - ROSTYN GRIFFITHS (Blackburn Rovers)
Vinnie certainly enjoyed an eventful debut for Rovers as he was booked after less than seven minutes for a poor challenge on Scott Parker, helped tee up a goal and was replaced at the interval in a 4-1 defeat by West Ham last week. Emmo was also booked and denied a goal by a fine stop from keeper Robert Green. Vinnie missed out on the Socceroos 2-1 win over Holland through injury but Emerton starred for the green and gold. Rostyn is poised to join Accrington Stanley on loan.

MARK SCHWARZER - ADRIAN LEIJER (Fulham)
Schwarzer was between the posts as Fulham saw off Leicester 3-2 in the Carling Cup before enjoying a blank Saturday. Leijer got his first taste of action as Fulham reserves lost to Portsmouth on Monday. Schwarzer made a crucial last-gasp stop to preserve victory for the Socceroos on Sunday morning as they enjoyed a 2-1 win over Holland in Eindhoven.

RICHARD GARCIA (Hull City)
Hull suffered a 5-0 home thrashing by Wigan Athletic last weekend. Garcia played an hour and was denied a goal by a fine stop from Wigan keeper Chris Kirkland. It was a happy end to the week though as Garcia emerged from the bench as a second half substitute in the Socceroos win over the Dutch.

BRAD JONES (Middlesbrough)
Heartbreak for Brad recently as a dislocated finger in the warm-up at Liverpool robbed him of his chance to play in Middlesbrough's last-gasp 2-1 defeat at Anfield. He was still out of action in the 5-1 rout of Yeovil in the Carling Cup midweek. Although on the bench, Jones did not feature in the Boro squad as they needed a late goal to see off Stoke City 2-1 last Saturday.

SCOTTISH PREMIER LEAGUE

SCOTT McDONALD (Celtic)
New number seven shirt or not, he's still not managed to break his goal drought that has now entered the new season. Manager Gordon Strachan says he's not worried though. He suffered again last weekend when they faced Dundee United and drew 1-1 despite at least three attempts on goal by the Aussie - but none of them was on target. He was replaced after 88 minutes. After playing for the Socceroos in midweek, an adductor muscle injury kept Scott out of Celtic's 3-0 win over Falkirk which has now been confirmed as a tear and set to knock him out for six weeks, missing the Roos friendly with Holland and the Old Firm defeat by Rangers.

DANNY INVINCIBILE (Kilmarnock)
Danny is feeling on top of the world, or at least top of the Scottish Premier League as we speak. He scored a tremendous goal on Saturday as his Kilmarnock side enjoyed a 2-0 win at Dundee United - lifting them three points clear of both Rangers and Celtic ahead of their match. Danny put in a full 90 minutes graft.

ENGLISH CHAMPIONSHIP

MILE STERJOVSKI - RUBEN ZADKOVICH (Derby County)
Sterj scored a cracker for the Socceroos in their 2-2 draw with South Africa but it was back to earth with a bump as Derby crashed 1-0 to Southampton last Saturday. Sterj stayed on the bench for the 1-0 Carling Cup win over Preston midweek but Zadko didn't even make the squad. Zadko is now injured and missed Saturday's miserable 2-0 defeat at lowly Barnsley. Sterj was also missing from the squad. Derby fans are not happy! While Zadko recovers from injury, Sterj helped the Socceroos to a 2-1 triumph over Holland on Sunday morning.

ADAM FEDERICI (Reading)
Adam was between the sticks for the Carling Cup match against Luton midweek but let just one late consolation goal get past him in the 5-1 thrashing, pulling off some impressive saves the rest of the game. Back to the bench for last Saturday's 4-2 win over Crystal Palace, a match which saw Kevin Doyle net a hat-trick for the Royals.

NICKY CARLE (Crystal Palace)
He had been looking forward to playing at Leeds in the Carling Cup as the hallowed home of so many Aussie heroes from the past like Kewell and Viduka. But his dream turned into a nightmare as his side slid to a 4-0 hammering, with Carle coming off after 63 minutes. Nicky played the full 90 on Saturday but couldn't stop his team slumping to a 4-2 defeat at Reading. He did at least find the net with a first half penalty but also picked up a yellow card. The FA is not happy with his transfer from Bristol City to Palace with the Eagles and an agent accused of breaching rules.

DAVID CARNEY (Sheffield United)
Carney was missing again as United won 3-1 at Blackpool and it was another blank afternoon for the Socceroo last week as his Sheffield United team was held to a goalless draw against Cardiff City at Bramall Lane. Carney was given a chance to impress in Socceroo colours again this weekend as Pim Verbeek's men enjoyed a win against the Dutch.
