The former Socceroo, whose three-year Glory contract was due to expire at the end of the season, will leave Perth today to seal a move to Chinese club Dalian FC. It is understood Glory are willing to terminate his contract early. Sterjovski, who signed as a marquee player in 2009, is expected to join Dalian subject to a medical.

Good for him. With all these A-League players going to Asia, it puts us on the map a little bit more. Sooner or later A-League clubs wont NEED to sell players, so when Asian clubs come knocking our clubs can get some real $$, and only sell players they don't really need or for the right price. All a hypothetical but yeah, hopefully becomes a reality. Edited by Roarz: 28/2/2012 02:56:45 PM

Why terminate his contract now though? He's playing well and now we're going to lose him Best of luck to him though.

A pity to lose him before finals, but hey that's life. Probably wouldn't have been worth the money next year especially compared to what he'd get in China, and someone younger can now step up to cover him.

Kind of frustrating that we had to wait nearly the whole 3 years for him to show some consistent form. Him leaving makes you wonder... A) he wanted to impress to get a new contact with Glory, Or B) he wanted to put himself in the shop window for other HAL clubs and asian clubs.
Either way, a professional footballer shouldn't rely on these types of motivation to perform week in-week out. In fact, it's almost embarrassing for him IMO.

Just hoping Sage can invest in a younger, better marquee for next season.

This is by far the worst news of the day I'm totally gutted by this, i've always been a huge Sterj fan, and as i predicted his involvement and consistent form has been the key for us this year. If he brings in a Scotsman to replace him then it can only lead to one thing... Fergie out! Makarounis please!

What happened in your thought process during typing? Start off with hypotheticals...then bring it about as if what you said was fact? Good luck to Sterj. Perth will miss him.

Have a good source that he has permanent injury which held him back since his first season has found it hard to recover.

A blessing in disguise for Perth. Sterj was costing them a lot of money and has only just begun to repay them on the pitch. He's in great form but they have the depth to cover him with players that are just as good. His good form will probably not be so long lasting either with the recent troubles he has had. Also, Perth's Australian marquee vacancy is now open again. Would be interesting to see who they go for!
