Trawling through Wikipedia whilst killing some time here at work, and I noticed that our young brigade have got another tournament coming up, with qualification games for the U-16 AFC Championship in 2014 taking place in September. Source

Here's hoping we can unearth another Daniel De Silva amongst this crop :>! Needless to say, it's pretty damn cool that we've now got more international football then we can poke a stick at - it's great!

By 'played off the park' you mean struggle to break through a parked bus of goat herders and dragon catchers.

Here's how these matches will go.

We kick it around the central defenders for a few minutes, try to move it upfield, lose it in midfield, and get smashed on the counter by 7 sprinting Asians who care little for tactics but know they can just flood forward and create chances.

I wonder if these a games will be on stream in the AFC.com website like last time? It will be good to look at the next generation of players that are being trained under the FFA NC Direction and to see if we are improving technically and tactically.

Maybe he is talking about the 2012 Under 16 Asian Cup Quarterfinal 1-5 loss to Iran under Edwards?

We would basically have the goalie pass it to a defender who would see no options and hoof it long. lol

We have failed to qualify to 2 of the last 3 Under 17 World Cups due to failing to reach the Semi FInals of the Under 16 Asian Cup.

This is the qualifying stage where they play minnows. Very different to playing Iran in the actual tournament.

These tournaments are always tough when they inevitably end up playing against grown men...

When are we going to host more of these age youth tournaments? Even the prelim qualifying stage.
