NORTH Queensland Fury boss Ian Ferguson admits he'd love a crack at managing former club Rangers but only after bringing A-League success to Townsville.

Ferguson is busy preparing the A-League new boys for their inaugural season in the competition as they look to make an impact.

There is plenty of excitement and anticipation, especially with the club having secured Robbie Fowler, and quiet rather than bold boasts have been the order of the day.

Ferguson is determined to enjoy his first crack at management but he has told the Scottish media that he's love a crack at one of the biggest jobs in British football one day.

Before moving Down Under Ferguson was a striker for Rangers and helped them to a plethora of titles.

He told the Scottish Sun: "If you asked that question to anybody in the world, they'd say Rangers is one of the biggest clubs in Britain. If I was given the opportunity to manage Rangers I'd walk over broken glass to get there.

"I've just got the job with North Queensland Fury in Australia but I have ideas and aspirations."

North Queensland will kick off their A-League season against Sydney FC in August.
