EX-MELBOURNE Victory's Simon Storey has admitted he is looking to continue his career in Europe after leaving Scottish club Partick Thistle this week.
The 26-year-old defender, who was part of the Victory team which won the A-League double in 2006-2007, was allowed to leave Firhill this week after both parties couldn't reach an agreement on a new deal.
Storey, who had spent two seasons at the Scottish Division One club, told au.FourFourTwo.com: "I've just spoken to Ian (McCall, the Partick manager) and we didn't necessarily come to an agreement and it was probably time for me to move on.
"I've loved it there, it's been fantastic and I've thoroughly enjoyed everything about the club. It is like the same reason it was time to also leave the Victory and leave Melbourne, it was probably good timing for me and now there's another adventure and another challenge to move onto."
And Storey revealed to FourFourTwo he would prefer that next adventure to be in Europe rather than returning home to Australia just yet.
"I still want to stay in Europe for the time being," Storey added. "But at the moment we're just waiting to see what arises.
"Obviously right now it is sort of a bit of a lull, while everyone's away on holiday at the end of the season and we'll start figuring out it a bit more as things get back into motion over the next few weeks.
But the Australian admitted he was keen to test himself at a higher level.
"Staying another year in Division One was probably staying a bit stagnant but that's okay," he said. "It's a good standard over there.
"You always need to keep challenging yourself both personally and as a footballer obviously."
