Young Australian striker David Williams has stunned his Danish club Brøndby after claiming he will leave the club in three weeks if he doesn't get more first-team opportunities.

The 21-year-old former Brisbane Roar forward, who made his only Socceroos appearance against China in June 2008, endured a frustrated 2008-2009 season in Denmark after a bright start to the campaign.

Williams told Danish football website bold.dk, "I'm in a difficult situation. I am 21 years-old and I have to play football. I have not developed in the last six months."

Williams started last season well for Brondby, playing 10 matches and scoring one goal before seriously injuring his knee in a training mishap in September.

The Australian then fought his way back to fitness after the turn of the year, only to be frozen out by the newly installed Brondby boss Kent Nielsen.

"I would love to play for Brøndby but when you get treated badly from January to June, it's not very good," Williams added.

"It was really a frustrating spring, also because I never knew why I had no opportunities. I have discussed various opportunities with Anders Bjerregaard (the Brøndby chairman).

"I have said that I will give them three full weeks to see whether I get playing time in the training camps. If not I will have to act quickly."
