Inter Milan defender Marco Materazzi has signed a new contract with the Serie A champions, keeping him at the club for another three seasons.
Materazzi's contract was set to run out next summer but Inter confirmed this afternoon that the Italy international, who has been at the San Siro since 2001, has extended his stay.
A statement on the Inter website, www.inter.it, read: "FC Internazionale and Marco Materazzi announce ... the agreement for an extension which will bind the player to the club until 30 June 2012."
Materazzi has made 245 appearances for the Nerazzurri, helping them to four Scudetti, although he played only 15 times last season.
The 35-year-old also helped Italy to the World Cup in 2006.
