WEB hackers have bizarrely 'signed' Melbourne Victory star Tom Pondeljak to Portuguese giants Benfica in an internet hoax that has taken in at least one news outlet.
In the last 24 hours, pranksters have mocked up Benfica site stories that allows anyone to announce a bogus signing for the club.
It's understood at least one Portugal based news service was taken in by one fake story of Benfica signing a player from Porto.
The Victory player was "announced" as signing for the club today. However his club have confirmed Pondeljak, 33, is due to line up for Victory against Brisbane Roar this weekend.
