BRISBANE Roar boss Ange Postecoglou said his team had blown a wonderful chance to make an A-League statement after crashing 1-0 to Melbourne Victory at Suncorp Stadium.
Roar fell behind to an early goal from Archie Thompson and for all their huff and puff, couldn't find a way back into the match.
Postecoglou struggled to contain his frustration after the match, declaring his side would have to show plenty of improvement if they were to sneak into the finals.
"I'm just hugely disappointed about the whole outcome today," he said.
"I thought it was a great opportunity for us to make a statement and to kick on from where we were last game we played and we blew it.
"It's about looking at ourselves and taking responsibility - all of us. It's just not good enough."
However, with plenty of games still to play, he indicated the team would give their all to keep the season alive.
"The foot will be on the pedal and we'll be working hard to turn things around right up to the last game," he added.
Roar captain Craig Moore was also very unhappy as he reflected on the defeat.
"Archie's a proven goal scorer in the A-League, and for him to get that much space in the box is quite alarming, we need to do better," Moore said.
"We got punished for poor defending, once again.
"We're working extremely hard at training, but it's just disappointing when you see the same mistakes, week-in, week-out.
"You go through all our goals this season and the bad thing is that teams don't actually have to create against us.
"No longer can I sit up here and make excuses, we are where we are because of the silly goals we give away."
Brisbane Roar's next match is against Wellington Phoenix at Suncorp Stadium next Sunday, kicking off at 6pm.
