Kim Saves Seongnam

Substitute goalkeeper Kim Yong-dae was the hero as nine-man Seongnam Ilhwa Chumma edged out Incheon United today in the first round of the K-league championship play-off series.

Kim was introduced with just seconds remaining of extra-time as the tie ended 1-1 and saved two spot kicks and scored one of his own to as the home side edged through 3-2.

Seongnam will face Chunnam Dragons, who shocked FC Seoul yesterday after also triumphing on penalties, at home in the next round on Wednesday.

A drab first half ended in controversy as Seongnam defender Sasa Ognenovski was dismissed following an apparent stamp on Incheon's Kim Min-su.

Seongnam coach Shin Tae-young was also sent to the stands following his protests.

But Incheon failed to take advantage of their numerical advantage and chances in the second half were few and far between.

And the deadlock was eventually broken 10 minutes into the first half of extra-time as Montenegrin striker Dzenan Radoncic, who spent four seasons with Incheon before joining Seongnam last winter, was left unmarked on the edge of the six yard-box to head home a looping Jang Hak-yong cross

But just three minutes into the second period of extra time, Seongnam were reduced to nine man as Cho Byung-kuk, who came off the bench after Ognenovski's dismissal, was shown a second yellow card.

And with seven minutes remaining Incheon finally equalised as Kim Min-su cut inside on the edge of the Seongnam area and fired a low left foot shot past goalkeeper Jung Sung-ryeong.
