Nick Hemus and Roberto Quintanilla playing for  USA defeated Ireland in the final. The two said it was one of the best nights off their life after glamour model Annalise Braakensiek handed them the replica World Cup trophy  and a load of beer from Carlsberg.

"Our primary goal we said at work today was to get out of the group stage and shake hands with Bozza and Robbie," Hemus told au.fourfourtwo.com.

"It was brilliant and nerve-wracking. The hardest was the quarter final against Mexico when we scored a winner with five seconds to go."

The pair work at Pepper Home Loans in Sydney and revealed a Fussball table at work may have helped their preparations.

"We started to believe once we beat Mexico," he said. "We're now going to drink the night away."

Meanwhile, the Irish team were upbeat despite the shock loss, saying their preparation may have had something to do with the loss.

Mick McCarthy, who claimed to work in the adult movie industry, said later: "We were drinking  all day so I'm not surprised we lost.

"It was a fair game and typically we lost. I'm going to go on the lash."

The night was staged at Star City's Sports Theatre bar and was deemed a success made even more glamorous by actress/model Annalise Braakensiek's appearance.

" It was absolutely brilliant that FourFourTwo put it on. It's a great feeling. We never gave up and never say die. And Annalise was so down to earth," said Hemus.

The winner added: "I'm happy that I'll be the only Englishman to touch the World Cup this year."
