ADELAIDE United has agreed to a mutual early release of Ukrainian import Evgeniy Levchenko after an underwhelming stint at the club.
The 34-year-old midfielder had spent the previous 15 years playing in Holland's top two divisions before joining the Reds.
However, Levchenko never secured a regular first-team place at Adelaide with fitness an issue, and also missed the cut for the team's 2012 AFC Champions League squad.
Subsequently, coach John Kosmina, who this week signed a new deal with the club, has agreed to release him early from the one-year deal he signed last year.
"He was a good pro who probably wasn't in the best nick when he came," Kosmina told the Adelaide Advertiser.
"Maybe things would have been different if he'd been healthy."
