Exclusive: World First For Jade

Socceroo Jade North is on the verge of a world first boot deal to wear Nike football boots emblazoned with stunning Aboriginal artwork.

“They’re unbelievable,” says 25-year-old North. “Darren’s put so much time into the design. Everyone who’s seen them – even non Aboriginal people – see the art and look at the stories on the boot and love them, you know?”

The boot that North gave au.fourfourtwo.com an exclusive peek at last night tells the story of North’s sporting life in art.

Indigenous artist Darren Dunne is the man behind the unique design. “I’ve done a bit of work with other Aboriginal sports stars and we believe people will love this design and the story behind it.”

Meanwhile, the saga over where North will be lacing up his eye-catching boots next season is still up in the air, according to the defender.

He is currently training with Sydney FC while mulling over his decision to stay with Newcastle or move to another A-League club.

North was recently linked with a move back to Queensland, where he began his career in the NSL in 1998. The mobile defender has nine Socceroo call ups to his name, the last being against Bahrain last year.
