Despite persistent rain and late notice, around 800 Newcastle Jets fans descended on the club's supporter HQ in suburban Adamstown to see star player Nicky Carle for the last time before he heads overseas.
After an earlier press conference at the United Sports Club in Adamstown doors were opened for Newcastle fans to see Carle and to get photos and autographs at 5pm Tuesday afternoon.
Carle reiterated at the press conference his desire to return to Newcastle when he returns to Australia from his European playing stint.
The playmaker leaves for the Socceroos' pre-Asian Cup camp in Singapore this Thursday. He will return to Newcastle immediately after his national team commitments at the Cup to take his wife and child with him to Turkey and his new club Genclerbirligi.
