Australia NewsMariners' Chiefs On Raiding Party |
Central Coast heavyweights were spotted in Sydney on Friday on a mission to entice business to invest in the Mariners rather than hometown club Sydney FC.
As FC paraded new signing Juninho, Mariners' Lyall Gorman and Peter Turnbull - CEO and major investor respectively - told au.fourfourtwo.com they were looking to expand the Mariners' corporate support outside of Gosford and invade FC territory."We're very happy with how it's going on the Central Coast. We're just down here having a look around and talking to a few people," said a coy Gorman.
Peter Turnbull is a former FC director and is a successful Sydney based businessman, so it's perhaps no surprise that Sydney now has competition in the boardroom for corporate support.
The Central Coast has become one of the best-supported clubs in the A-League with a slew of sponsors jumping on board in the last few months.
The pair added that a marquee player for next season - Tony Vidmar is the club's present one - is something they'll be looking at.
"I think Lawrie's pretty happy with the 22 he has right now but it's something we'll be looking at possibly for next season." added Gorman.
