NEWCASTLE Jets star Joel Griffiths has escaped any further action after he appeared to punch a linesman in the groin in the weekend clash against Central Coast Mariners.
The Jets playmaker angrily punched assistant referee Alex Glasgow at the top of the thigh early in the match.But because Griffiths was immediately booked for the attack, the FFA today confirmed no further action could be taken over the incident.
The Sydney-Victory clash is to come under FFA scrutiny however over fans pelting ref Mark Shield as he ran down the tunnel and comments Sydney coach Branko Culina is alleged to have made to Shield after the match.
The behaviour of Victory fans at the match is also set to be investigated after claims seats were allegedly ripped out during the match at Sydney Football Stadium.
