EXCLUSIVE: The newly crowned premiers Central Coast watched last night's two final round games and then celebrated in style at the beach side spot of Terrigal.
“We got all the boys together before the first game and obviously watched both games. It was great to have everyone there together then afterwards to cap off a great season and have a celebration,” skipper Alex Wilkinson told au.fourfourtwo.com.“We've got a great bunch of guys up there and we all get along so well. It was good to have a bit of a celebration drink together.
“We all went to the Terrigal pub and stayed there. Probably we annoyed the bartenders because they were looking for a nice quiet night! When we turned up they probably thought, 'oh no, here we go'.
"It was good though.”
Wilkinson admitted that when Roar's Danny Tiatto threw his left hook at Reds man Travis Dodd, a massive cheer went up from the Mariners. “From then on they were always going to find it hard to come back.
“We didn't want to jinx it too much by celebrating then, but once it got to the 80th minute that was when we realised we were close to winning it.”
Wilkinson added that it was good for the game that two of the smallest clubs have ended up in the top two.
“There'll be two packed houses for the games against the Jets.”
