ROAR striker Reinaldo has signed for Korean K-League club Busan I’Park over the weekend after an eleventh hour bid, said to be worth $500,000.

The Brazilian jetted out from Brisbane yesterday to begin a new chapter in his career after rivals bids from clubs in the MLS were snubbed in favour of the Asian side.

Roar’s all-time leading scorer secured a two-year deal and leaves for an undisclosed transfer fee to the Korean club.

Subject to the usual medical requirements Reinaldo is hoping to make his debut this coming weekend as the K-League kicks off its new season.

“I have loved my time at Queensland Roar and although I am sad to leave this opportunity is a good one for me,” said the winner of Roar’s 2007/08 Golden Boot.

“Hopefully one day I can come back and play here again. I have made so many friends in Queensland and both the club and the fans have supported me. Frank [Farina] has been fantastic and I owe so much to him.”

While disappointed to see his marksman depart, Frank Farina said he was glad for the player who had always shown determination to do well, despite some criticism in the early part of the season.

“Reinaldo has done ever so well for us and everyone at the club wants to see him do well with the new challenges ahead of him," he said.

“He has been a model professional since he’s been here and deserves his opportunity to advance his career.

"He has improved through the year and has all the attributes to continue that improvement do very well. He’s still only young and I’m sure he can look forward to a very good career.”
