Brosque: Fear New Sydney

EXCLUSIVE: Alex Brosque believes Sydney FC’s rivals should start to shiver as his coach calls on the harbour city to embrace the club like never before.

The Moore Park outfit have wasted no time in assembling a powerful looking squad for next season with John Aloisi, Mark Bridge, Simon Colosimo and Stuart Musialik all on board for 2008/09.

Nor is the club finished with its recruitment campaign just yet and last season’s leading scorer believes the flurry of new faces will be causing plenty of anxiety among the A-League’s other seven teams.

Brosque told au.fourfourtwo.com: “These are three or four of the biggest signings you could possibly make in the A-League.

"I think all the boys are buzzing about what’s happening here and it’s only a couple of weeks since the end of last season. I’m really looking forward to playing with these guys.

“The club said it was serious about being the best when it appointed Kossie and it’s words are being followed by actions.

“If you are going to be successful and win trophies then you need to assemble a squad that people are going to fear. I can’t honestly see too many teams wanting to play us next year.

"I’m sure there are those who will want us to fail but we’re used to people having a go at us to be honest. It’s part and parcel of being part of Sydney FC.

“We’re a close group, we work hard together and we want to bring success to this football club – for ourselves and the fans.”

Around 16,000 fans watched each of Sydney FC’s home games last season and coach John Kosmina is hoping that the club’s transfer activity so far will spur even more supporters to get on board for the new season.

He said: “I would love to see the punters get on board. Sydney is a winning city.

"The public likes winners in any of the sports that we have here which compete for bums on seats. We want to be competitive and show our fans that we are serious about giving this competition a good nudge.”
