Houllier Denies Czech Link

GERARD Houllier has angrily rejected reports that he is set to become the new Czech Republic coach.

Czech football federation deputy head Vlastimil Kostal was quoted by the Czech press as saying that the former France and Liverpool manager would be an ideal replacement for the outgoing Karel Bruckner, but Houllier insisted there was no truth to the story.

"I haven't approached anyone and no one's approached me," he said in quotes reported by L'Equipe. "To say that I've made an official offer, well it's properly scandalous. If there's proof of it let them show me."

Houllier has been out of the management game since leaving Lyon last year and the 60-year-old has been attending Euro 2008 as part of UEFA's technical committee.

The Czechs had a disappointing time at Euro 2008, failing to get out of Group A after losses to Portugal and Turkey.
