Trezeguet Could Return If Domenech Departs

Former France striker David Trezeguet will reconsider his decision to retire from international football if Les Bleus part ways with coach Raymond Domenech.

Trezeguet had been an ever present for his country for 10 years but has rarely seen eye to eye with Domenech and threatened to quit international football before, when he was overlooked for several of France'sEuro 2008 qualifiers.

The Juventus star did not carry out his threat and was recalled by Domenech for the friendly against England in March, but the French federation's decision to keep faith in their man led to Trezeguet's announcement on Wednesday at the age of just 30.

However, he revealed in French newspaper L'Equipe that the decision was not final.

"If things change (regarding the coach) then the doors will be open again," he said.

"Because the France national team is the maximum for any top-level player."

Trezeguet's decision to retire has brought renewed criticism on the already under-fire Domenech.

On Sunday Emmanuel Petit joined his former international team-mates Youri Djorkaeff and Christophe Dugarry in slamming the French Football Federation for sticking with Domenech despite France's dreadful showing at Euro 2008.
