Klose Still Feels Euro Pain

Germany striker Miroslav Klose admits he is still hurting from the Euro 2008 final defeat to Spain as he prepares to return to training with Bayern Munich.

Joachim Low's team were beaten by a Fernando Torres goal in Vienna last month and Klose, who will join his Bayern team-mates for pre-season training at the end of the week, is still disappointed by the outcome of the game.

"Once you make it to the final, you obviously want to win," Klose told official club website, www.fcbayern.de. "I've not quite worked it out of my system."

Despite reaching the final, Germany were never at their best and Poland-born Klose - who has scored 41 international goals - managed just two goals in the competition.

"I wouldn't have minded a goal or two more," said the 30-year-old, who has a fine strike rate in tournament football, scoring 10 goals in two World Cups,

"The tactical switch (using a 4-5-1 system) definitely put me at a disadvantage. I had fewer chances."

Klose's former international coach and new Bayern boss, Jurgen Klinsmann, had sympathy for the striker's plight at the tournament.

"The switch to 4-5-1 left Miro Klose out on a limb. It was really tough for him," said Klinsmann.
