EXCLUSIVE: Frank Farina believes next season will be the A-League's best yet as he targets an extra piece of firepower for his Queensland Roar side.

All eight teams have had a busy few months adding fresh faces with each coach confident of a top four finish.

Farina is no different and after last season's astonishing end, with four clubs locked on the same number of points going into the final round, Farina is not ruling out another tight battle.

He told au.fourfourtwo.com that fans should expect another fiercely-fought battle for honours with plenty to please supporters along the way.

The A-League may lack quantity in terms of fixtures but Farina can only see the quality getting better.

He said: "I think it(the standard)will be higher. Look how competitive and tight it was last time. I expect it to be very, very tight again."

Roar missed out on the Premier's Plate in their final match last season but Farina is hoping his new-look squad can push for honours again this time.

He said: "I'm happy with the players I've brought in - well, I'd have to say that wouldn't I?

"I'm still looking to sign another player though, definitely an out and out striker or play-making midfielder.

"Everyone wants that type though and they're the ones that cost the money.

"Once we have that player it will take us to 22 (in the squad) then we’d probably leave one spot open."
