EXCLUSIVE James Robinson will line up against former club Melbourne Victory this weekend with his coach predicting a big season for the Englishman.

Robinson struggled for goals last season and was hampered by injury. When Dave Mitchell replaced Ron Smith, he experimented by pushing the player into a midfield role.

Mitchell loves the player's attitude, workrate and commitment and believes the Perth Glory fans will see the best of him this time round.

He told au.fourfourtwo.com: "The problem with James was that he tore a thigh muscle at the start of last season and it just wouldn't get right for him.

"He was carrying it and playing games under duress. Hopefully that's all behind him now and I'm expecting a good season for him.

"Clearly he has spent his career so far as a striker but he's a player I see that can potentially fill a number of positions for us. That kind of versatility is great for a coach and for a team.

"He's a good player to have in a squad as he's a real character and gets on very well with the rest of the lads here."

Meanwhile, Glory are being linked with former Brighton and Hove Albion man Paul Reid. He was released by the English side at the end of last season.
