EXCLUSIVE: Former Melbourne Victory and Chelsea wingback Joe Keenan will today be unveiled as a Hibernian player after inking a two-year deal with the Scottish SPL club

The former Chelse man is said to be delighted with the move where he'll work with Easter Road boss Mixu Paatelainen.

Keenan, 25, was allowed to leave Victory despite having a year left on his contract at Telstra Dome.

Keenan told au.fourfourtwo.com before leaving Australia that he'd enjoyed his spell in the A-League. "It was great, and the club's great too but right now I'm thinking about moving back to Europe."

Victory boss Ernie Merrick informed the Englishman last month that he is free to find another club after a 15-month spell with the Victorian A-League franchise which included 12 appearances and 10 starts in season 2007/8.

The 25-year-old former graduate of England's elite Lilleshall academy was not included in Victory's ACL squad during the A-League off-season with the three-visa player rule squeezing him out of contention.

Meanwhile, another former Victory man is hoping to recharge his career.

Defender Mark Byrnes is in Port Macquarie today training with Newcastle Jets. Byrnes, 26, formerly a Joeys skipper in 1999, is hoping to impress Jets boss Gary Van Egmond at a time when transfer speculation continues to swirl around the future of Jets captain and central defender Jade North.

The former Perth Glory, Salzburg and Vicenza defender has been playing in the NSW premier league with Leichhardt but recently turned down a short-term move to English League One side Scunthorpe.
