BRAZILIAN striker Reinaldo has made a shock return to Queensland Roar just months after exiting the club for Korea.

The forward who helped Roar reach the preliminary final last season has agreed a three-year deal.

Frank Farina had only reluctantly released the player who joined up with Korean K-League side Busan I’Park.

Busan and Reinaldo recently agreed to part terms and the 24-year-old’s signature was keenly sought by MLS club Colorado Rapids as well as two Hyundai A-League clubs.

However, Reinaldo chose to return to Brisbane for several reasons, not least that it was the place his son Philepe was born.

Roar coach Frank Farina said he was delighted to have regained the services of the tall striker.

He said: “This is a great signing for the club. We never wanted him to go in the first place, but we let him go to further his career in Asia.

“With Sergio van Dijk and Tim Smits in the mix it is going to be a very exciting forward line.

“We will definitely have more firepower and more options.”

Reinaldo scored 15 times for the roar in 47 appearances, but really came of age as a Roar player at the tail end of last season where he was the most dangerous attacking option at the club.

Reinaldo is expected to arrive back in Australia late next week.
