AUSTRALIAN defender Scott Guyet is waiting to discover whether his new club will start the English season with a hefty points penalty.

League Two club Bournemouth have struggled with financial problems in recent years and the Football League want assurances of a safe and secure way ahead.

Fellow League Two side Rotherham United have already been hit with a 17 point penalty before a ball has been kicked, again due to financial concerns, and Bournemouth should learn their fate overnight.

Guyet can at least take heart from the positive response his switch from Yeovil has generated with his new teammates.

Defender Jason Pearce told the Bournemouth Evening Echo: "He's (Guyet)got a lot of experience, he's a big bloke and we needed that in our team.

"On a personal point, hopefully he'll help me come on as a player. It's all good for the club and me personally.

"He's six foot two plus, is a big lad and looks strong and physical. I haven't seen him in a game but I think he'll be a good signing for the club."
