GOLD Coast United have pencilled in Hartlepool United striker Joel Porter as a transfer target as preparations gather pace for the club's inaugural A-League campaign.
Porter is currently with the English third-tier club and his recent form will have done little to dull United's interest.Hartlepool were trailing 3-0 at home to Swindon Town in their League One match at the weekend before Porter's intervention.
After pulling one back in the early stages of the second half, he struck twice more in the final eight minutes to rescue a point.
Porter, a target for Wellington Phoenix during much of the A-League off season, is a free agent at the end of the current English season and he has made no secret of his ambition to ressurect his international career.
Playing in the A-League would certainly allow him to catch the eye of Pim Verbeek.
Coach Miron Bleiberg will head for Europe later this year on a recruitment drive and is expected to check out Porter as part of that trip.
