Cesar: I Paid Price for Mancini Sacking

Veteran midfielder Cesar has lashed out at Inter Milan after leaving the Serie A champions for Bologna yesterday.

The 34-year-old Brazilian was on the books of the Nerazzurri last season and claims he was told he would be offered a new deal, only to discover he was surplus to requirements when Jose Mourinho replaced Roberto Mancini as coach.

"Four and a half months ago I was an Italian champion and then I found myself left out, abandoned from everyone, without a team," said Cesar.

"It has been hard. I was shown the door because I was a man of Mancini.

"I paid the price for his sacking and it's not fair.

"In June, they made me promises and therefore I didn't worry about finding a team.

"Then I didn't hear anything from anyone. They forgot about me when all they needed to do was to tell me they were not interested in me.

"I trusted them but they didn't merit my trust."

Cesar is now hoping to turn the page and help Bologna avoid relegation.

The move sees Cesar reunited with former Lazio and Inter team-mate Sinisa Mihajlovic, who was an assistant to Mancini at Inter before being appointed earlier this month as Bologna coach.

"I thank Bologna for the opportunity they have given me," said Cesar. "I know Mihajlovic well, we played together.

"I know what the team expects of me.

"I will try to give quality and goals."

Cesar made 17 Serie A appearances for Inter last season.
