AUSTRALIA remain the No.1 ranked nation in Asia despite falling a spot in the latest FIFA world rankings.
The Socceroos have slipped to 29th but are five places clear of Japan, which climbed a rung to 34th.
The Socceroos achieved their best ever ranking in December on the back of strong performances in their World Cup qualification campaign.
Australia's next match is an Asian Cup qualifier against Indonesia in Jakarta on January 28.
It resumes its World Cup campaign against main rival Japan in Yokohama on February 11.
Uzbekistan, Qatar and Bahrain - Australia's three World Cup group rivals - are ranked 69th, 86th and 89th respectively.
There was no movement at the top of the FIFA rankings where Spain remains No.1 ahead of Germany, the Netherlands, Italy and Brazil.
