So the A-League will be an eight team competition again in 2008 with the Gold Coast Galaxy and Northern Thunder put on hold for another year. Fair enough, there would be nothing worse than for teams that are under-prepared and unsustainable getting the go-ahead only to fold soon after. But it's a shame because we really need more football in this country!
However, the FFA does have options. Check out Andy's blog for a neat simple short-term solution while we wait for the new clubs to sort themselves out.

Pim Verbeek has trimmed his Socceroos squad for the World Cup qualifier against China from 245 to just 21. While no-one from FourFourTwo made the cut, Harry Kewell did. Verbeek is not forgetting the A-League young'uns, with plenty of kids named for a friendly against Singapore next week.
