It was tough to watch Adelaide’s ACL dream left seemingly in shatters this week, but don’t give up yet, stranger things have happened in football. If we rewind back to European football in 1984, that year QPR smashed Partizan Belgrade 6-2 in the first leg of their UEFA Cup tie, only for Belgrade to bounce back with a 4-0 win in the second leg. While in the same year, Barcelona outclassed Metz 4-2 in the Cup Winners' Cup, then lost the return leg 4-1. Bayer Leverkusen in 1988, Liverpool in 2003, hell even the Central Coast Mariners in 2008 (twice), you get the idea…..don’t give up yet.
Also this week, McDonald shows his class by scoring against Man Utd, Shane Smeltz confirms his move to Gold Coast United and marquee man Edmundo Zura departs the Jets.
