It’s silly season for EPL transfers, with Newcastle touting Socceroos captain Lucas Neill. However, more amazing than that is Manchester City’s audacious $200m bid to sign Brazilian playmaker Kaka from Milan. His wages at City could be as high as $500,000 a week. The Italians may be eyeing the money, but it’s unlikely Kaka will abandon life at the San Siro to join a potential Championship outfit, which has limited history to call upon. Money talks, but Kaka is the not the kind of player to swap a large pile of money at Milan for a very large pile of money at City.
Elsewhere, FIFA have told Australia and other nations bidding for the 2018 and 2022 World Cups they must demonstrate the tournament would lead to positive change for football.
