Your Week in Football
As you might expect from two inseparable rivals, the A-League Grand Final went to the wire on Saturday night with Sydney holding their nerve for a 4-2 shoot-out win after the game was deadlocked at 1-1 after extra-time.

While Matthew Breeze effectively ended last year's Grand Final early on with a harsh red card, an Archie Thompson injury severely blunted Melbourne's chances after only 12 minutes this year. We wish one of our favourite A-League strikers a speedy recovery, but news of him missing the World Cup finals seems an optimistic link to the aforementioned injury.

However most of the water cooler chat this morning will be over Kevin Muscat and 'that' penalty miss after the two teams couldn't be separated in extra-time. After a career of serenely taken spot-kicks, Muscat's final strike of a football (??) could be the one that cost his beloved Melbourne Victory the Grand Final. Muskie shouldn't beat himself up too much, at least his effort was better than this shocker.

So there you have it, A-League Version Five wrapped up. A six-month wait for more domestic football with only a kick about in South Africa to keep us occupied. Tune into the FourFourTwo Insider podcast at the end of the week as the lads hand out their end of season A-League awards.
